REQUIREMENTS TO TAKE UP EDUCATION (EU-Citizens)
In order to start the 1 year vocational training as state-approved „Geriatric care assistant" a school-leaving certificate is needed (German „Hauptschulabschluss“). This usually corresponds to 9 years of school. The language level skill required to start the training is usually B1.

Non –EU citizens need a visa to enter Germany, a resident permit to stay in the country and a work permit in order to work.

TRAINING CONTENTS

The training of geraitric care assistants takes place at vocational schools. The practical part of the training takes place in residential facilities for the elderly, geriatric clinics, elderly day care centers.
In the theoretical part, among others, the contents of the classes are:

- Tasks and concepts of the elderly care
- Support in the activity planning
-  Religion, life and faith issues
- German
- Politics
- Social Security Law.

COSTS FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING

For training costs may be incurred, in particular course fees or tuition (especially at private educational institutions) as well as recording and examination fees, costs for learning materials (eg literature) and work clothing. Also, travel expenses and costs for external accommodation may arise.
If you have a resident permit and you go to a state-recognized school no costs will occur. For subsistence costs you will receive training allowances from the practical training institution or from the Jobcenter (education voucher “Bildungsgutschein”).
