You are eligible to apply for an equivalency review for the selected occupation. Determination of equivalence is mandatory if you wish to pursue this profession in Germany.
If you wish to work as a geriatric nurse in Germany without any restrictions, you need a state permit. In Germany the profession is regulated by the Länder. This means that the pursuit of this profession is linked under the regulations of the respective Land to the possession of certain qualifications.
If you have gained your vocational qualifications abroad you may have your qualifications evaluated as to their equivalence to German qualifications. If you wish to pursue this profession in Germany, the competent authorities must establish the equivalence of your foreign qualifications with German qualifications in the respective profession.
